Philosophy

While we may like to believe that we are making a purely rational decision, for most of us home purchasing is a process driven by emotion. We are buying a future and need to connect to the home on a personal and emotional basis. Home sale design enables that connection – color and texture create an emotional response, while furniture placement helps buyers envision how to use the space. In an empty house, one’s eye is drawn only to the perceived flaws. Home sale design accentuates a home’s features, enabling one to imagine settling in and living a life there.

Our design is always tailored to the character of each individual property and to the most likely potential buyers.

History

I have been a real estate agent since 1993 and have a very successful business. A large part of that success is based on a second business that I began 3 1/2 years into my real estate career. I had begun to rearrange my clients’ furniture – sometimes adding things from home – and found that this was a very effective tool in helping my clients to sell their homes more quickly. On a couple of different occasions, I had empty homes to sell and hired “staging” companies to come in and furnish the home. The success of this was startling and I realized that my sellers could make tens of thousands of dollars more for their homes by taking advantage of this service.

My own efforts at designing homes for sale were noticed by my colleagues and they began to ask me for my help in their listings. I started to accumulate inventory and now, over a decade later I own enough inventory to furnish between 35 and 40 homes. I work with a staff of three talented designers, an administrator, an accountant and other occasional help. We have designed hundreds of homes in all price ranges and myriad styles.

Agents have traditionally been our point of contact, but as the public becomes more educated about this tool, that is changing and many people contact us directly. I work with many of the best agents in the Seattle area and although I am a Windermere agent, we have coordinated successfully with agents from all the major local firms.
